PNEUMONIA

Ben saw his pulmonologist Friday and she sent him for an x-ray.  She called me Saturday to tell me that she was suspicious about how it looked, but wanted the official reading from the radiologist that wouldn't be available until Monday.  She called me today to tell me that the official reading says pneumonia.  She was questioning whether or not it was collapse vs. pneumonia, but the radiologist seems to think it looks more like pneumonia.  (sigh)  Makes sense because he still doesn't seem quite himself.  She's starting him on a couple antibiotics but it worries me that if it isn't sensitive to the bug that's growing down there it could get worse.  The only way to know is to culture him.  Tomorrow the VNA is coming to draw blood so I'll send a culture with her back to the lab.  In the meantime, she wants me to do vest therapy, cough assist, and nebs...3-4 times a day.  Almost makes me wish I had a nurse...ok, not really. ;)

Becky I am so sorry to hear this, we will be praying that the antibiotics work for the bug Ben has.
Doing a lot of txs can be really tough. Hang in there, you are one amazing lady. Hug that sweet boy for us.

OH Nooooo! This is NOT allowed. Just praying these buggies will be sensitive to the antibiotics. Hope she ordered up some big gun bug juice! ;) LOL @ the nurse comment. Shame we don't live near we could help one another OR I "might" even share my nurses. "Might"...I do tend to be a bit greedy with my girlies ;)

Hang in there...
Hugs,

Oh a nurse would be so helpful! I thought I didn't want nurses but they've been such a big help. Hopefully this gets better and not worse!

Hi Mom/Nurse Becky and Ben,
I'll add my prayers as always. Ben, I think you give us all a lot of prayer practice, but you could slow down on that just a bit. Seriously, though, keep on a-fightin'.

Special kids should be exempt from getting sick. Alas, such is life. Wow, you've got a ton of support from this blog alone! And that means lots of prayers.

hugs, Bree
