PICU Day 16

Calling Nurse Stevie...STAT!
She's HERE! :)
I had to call in the big guns.
Yesterday Ben's left lung went down.

Nothing like a little Stevie
to help "inflate" what's "down"!
(and I'm not just talking about lungs)

(Ben getting some chest therapy)

Ok, I should have read the caption underneath because when I first clicked on it and saw his chest vibrating I thought he was on the oscilator. Why do his lungs collapse so easily?

Nothing like a bright smile to bring some cheer to little brother and momma. :D

Lacey, his left lung collapses easily because of damage from other illnesses combined with scoliosis combined with very shallow breathing. What ends up happening is his little tiny airways get sticky with his secretions and he's not strong enough to "pop" them open on his own...and it is much worse when he is sick. When all those little airways stick, it makes it harder to move air which leads to shallower breathing which leads to the lung going down. Make sense?

Praying Ben's lung reinflates and he gets to feeling better soon. Poor guy, this has been a long one.

Looks like a little does of Stevie goes a long way!!!
Dear Ben, please teach your family that they are wearing the wrong color... Red perfect for your sweet cheeks, but it may not be worn during FOOTBALL season :)
Don't worry, we still love you guys all the way to the U and back... to BYU....
Keep being brave!
