PICU VISIT

Today I drove up to DHMC to take care of some physical forms for Kaleb.  While I was there I dropped by the PICU for a visit.  It was so hard being there without Ben.  I know most people associate bad things and suffering with a PICU, but we didn't.  It was always a positive experience for us and we love the people there.  I felt fortunate that there wasn't a lot of suffering involved with Ben.  He just needed the occasional tune-up and extra maintenance before returning back home.  So you see, it was not a bad place for him to be.  I never liked it when he was sick, but I was always confident that they would take such loving care of him and they always did.  The tears flowed today when I entered the unit.  I stayed for a little while, visiting with different nurses, doctors, NP's and tech's.  I'm glad I did.  They were such a huge part of his life.

Becky- it was good therapy for you and them. I know they were happy to see you. When we stopped by a few weeks ago it was so nice to see the and feel the love for Gabe-so I know the love you felt today with a hundred fold.

I'm so glad you were able to spend some time with your PICU family- even though it's so tender. What a blessing to have such a wonderful staff watching over your family. LOVE YOU.

I'm so glad you had such a great PICU "family" to watch over Ben. I can't imagine how hard it must have been to visit without your sidekick. Love you.

Glad you took that step. It helps with closure for both you and your PICU family. They could share in your feelings as they were feeling the same sadness and loss as well. Ben was part of their lives as well. Love you, and glad you made it through the tears.

I don't know how I came across your site but I am glad I did...I just wish I had known Ben before he passed away...I don't know his story either, I just want to say that all the post made me cry, alot...I am the mom to a special needs child but he is no where as bad off as your son. I just wish I could hug you and hold you and cry with you..know that people do care and hear your story and just pray it gets easier for you.
